Inter will not start up on contract extension talks with defender Milan Skriniar until at least after their Champions League group stage clash with Barcelona next week.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Nerazzurri are not currently negotiating to try and extend the 27-year-old’s deal during the international break, as Paris Saint-Germain lurk with a strong interest in his signature.

Inter are aiming to find an agreement with Skriniar on a new deal to avoid losing the Slovakian on a free transfer next summer, but they have not been using the international break as an opportunity to begin talks as had been anticipated.

The feeling within the club is that with the team’s form on the pitch having been poor in recent weeks, it is too delicate of a moment to begin a difficult round of contract talks.

Accordingly, the talks should begin sometime soon after the Nerazzurri return from the international break, with tough matches against the likes of Roma and Barcelona on the way.
