Speaking to Bild, Bayern Munich right-back Moussair Mazraoui has expressed his frustration over lack of game time since his return from injury.

When asked about his situation, the Moroccan said: “I am disappointed, fought my way into the first eleven, came back after my heart muscle inflammation. Now it feels like I’ve been forgotten, even if that’s a big word. Football is football, you are only as good as your last game. But that was a very long time ago for me after all. That’s hard.”

The 25-year-old was asked about his future at Bayern and he said: “If the situation remains like this, this is not what I want. And not what I deserve.”

Since Thomas Tuchel has taken charge of the club, Mazraoui has only played one minute coming off the bench against Freiburg. Before his heart inflammation and managerial change, Mazraoui has played 20 times for Bayern assisting three times. The 25-year-old now finds himself behind João Cancelo, Benjamin Pavard and Josip Stanišić.

Cancelo’s future at Bayern is still in doubt as the club are unwilling to pay the €70m buy option in his loan agreement. The 28-year-old has found himself in the team more under Tuchel but at the left-back position which is not his natural side.

Mazraoui joined Bayern last summer from Ajax on a free transfer. According to Transfermarkt, the 25-year-old is valued at €28m, while his contract at the Recordmeister expires in 2026.
