Nottingham Forest have confirmed the signing of Anthony Elanga from Manchester United.
Forest will pay £15m for the Swedish international, who has signed onto a five-year-deal at The City Ground.
Posting a departing message on his Instagram, the United academy graduate expressed his gratitude towards the club and their fans, stating how it was his dream to play at Old Trafford.
Furthermore, speaking on his future at The City Ground, he said: “It is the right time now for the perfect step in my career. I’m someone who lives for football and I need to be on the pitch every week doing what I love.”
“I’m 100% ready to get started, excited for what comes next and as determined as ever to succeed!”
Since making his debut for The Red Devils in May 2021 under Ole Gunnar Solskjær, the 21-year-old has made 39 Premier League appearances- 21 of which have been starts- scoring three and assisting three. 14 of these starts and four of his six goal contributions came during the 2021/22 season, where he was a bright spark in an underwhelming United side under Ralf Rangnick, impressing the German interim head coach with his rapid speed and hard work out of possession.
These performances evidently caught the eye of Steve Cooper’s side, who are paying just under the wingers €18m market value, as per Transfermarkt, indicating they were able to secure a good deal.
Elanga will be The Reds’ second signing of the summer, having already picked up full-back Ola Aina on a free transfer, following the expiration of his contract at Torino.
