As per Voetbal International and several international media outlets, Lutsharel Geertruida has appeared on Nottingham Forest’s radar. The RB Leipzig defender is expected to provide more competition for the Premier League club’s defence.
Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that Nottingham Forest have already approached RB Leipzig about Geertruida’s services. The Athletic has also mentioned the 17-cap Dutch international in connection with the Premier League club, as manager Nuno Espirito Santo would like to see more competition on both sides of the defence.
While Ola Aina is currently first choice, Forest have Geertruida and Atlético Madrid defender Nahuel Molina, who won the 2022 World Cup with Argentina, on the wish list. The club has abandoned hopes of a Matty Cash return. In 2020, Forest sold the Polish international to Aston Villa, and he is now reportedly considered too expensive move the other way.
Geertruida has been playing for Leipzig since the summer of 2024 and made 35 appearances for the German first team in a single season, scoring one goal in the Bundesliga. Leipzig paid Feyenoord 20 million euros a year ago. A hometown hero, Geertruida played over 200 matches for the Rotterdammers, and even recently discussed the chances of a return to De Kuip.
