Nottingham Forest are closing in on a club-record £37 million transfer for Galatasaray winger Barış Alper Yılmaz, with the Turkish international understood to be actively encouraging his move to the City Ground.

According to several reports in Türkiye, including in sports outlet Fanatik, Forest had previously tabled a £32 million offer and are willing to pay an additional £5 million in add‑ons as part of the deal.

Dan Ndoye has already arrived from Bologna in a £35 million package, and he made his debut in the pre‑season friendly against Birmingham City.

With Anthony Elanga having departed for Newcastle United, manager Nuno Espírito Santo is eager to strengthen his attacking options, and Yılmaz is seen as the ideal candidate to fill that void.

Yılmaz enjoyed a productive season in Istanbul, netting 14 goals and providing six assists from 48 appearances. Known for his energy and combative style—he accumulated 11 yellow cards—he has impressed Forest’s recruitment team both for his reliability and tenacity on the field.

The Turkish reports suggest that Galatasaray were initially holding out for a flat £37 million fee, but as talks have progressed, a compromise structure including add-ons has brought the two clubs significantly closer to finalising terms. Forest remain confident that the transfer can be concluded before the Premier League season kicks off in under a fortnight.

Should the deal go ahead as expected, it would not only become Forest’s most expensive signing but also underline the club’s increased ambition following qualification for European competition. Espírito Santo, under pressure to deliver depth across all departments, is determined to bolster the squad further before the campaign begins.

Meanwhile, Forest continue to monitor other targets as they seek to build a squad capable of competing on multiple fronts. Their recruitment drives include midfield and other wide attacking options.
