Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva believes the playing styles of Nottingham Forest and Real Madrid are relatively similar, speaking during a new interview.
It was Pep Guardiola’s players who came out on top over the weekend to make their third successive FA Cup final with Oliver Glasner’s Crystal Palace awaiting in next month’s Wembley Stadium showpiece.
Victory in the FA Cup would add some much-needed shine to a difficult season across competitions for Manchester City, while the Premier League remains of the utmost importance in order to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League via a top-five finish.
Rico Lewis opened the scoring at Wembley at the weekend as the England Under-21 international took up a role in attacking midfield, before the second-half would see Josko Gvardiol bullet home a header from an Omar Marmoush corner.
Speaking prior to the meeting with Nottingham Forest, Bernardo Silva told ITV Sport of the clash in the capital, It’s a tricky team in terms of how deep they defend sometimes in a back-five, it’s not easy to go through those lines.
“And then the players, the individual quality that they have, is really good! They can create with the quick players that they have up front, they can create chances out of nothing.
“So it’s a very dangerous team that can put pressure on you on set-pieces, but especially on counters, and similar to I would say, in a way, to (Real) Madrid.
“If you sleep a little bit and you think you have the game controlled, in a transition, in a moment where you don’t expect, they can kill you.”
Next up for Manchester City is a return to Premier League action in a rare Friday night encounter with Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Etihad Stadium, with victory crucial to the club’s hopes of making European competition next season.
Pep Guardiola may issue a period of time off to his players following their Wembley victory before resuming training ground activities later in the week as they aim to maximise their rest between big matches.
