Harry Redknapp has been talking about Newcastle United.

Harry Redknapp thinks Newcastle haven’t been ‘anywhere near their best’ this season and that is fair comment, though I don’t think NUFC have been as bad as some people have made out.

As for the win over his old club, he makes it sound like a bit of a miracle that Newcastle won against Tottenham.

Whilst Harry Redknapp also thinks that in the games so far, Newcastle United have been ‘shaky at the back’ in the matches.

Personally, I think the defending has been United’s big strength so far.

Despite playing with 10 men for 73 minutes against Southampton, another of Harry’s former clubs that he has managed, Nick Pope had very few serious shots to save.

Whilst down at Bournemouth, yet another of the clubs that Harry Redknapp managed, the United keeper once again had not many difficult saves to make, whilst at the other end Neto was man of the match.

Then for all Tottenham’s 66% possession, they created very few clear chances, Newcastle having the better chances overall. The possession figure a bit of a red herring really, as Eddie Howe used the exact same tactics last season, when United won 4-0 despite Spurs having 73% possession!

The biggest weakness so far with Newcastle United has actually been at the other end of the pitch, the midfield and wingers not at their best, certainly in terms of providing the service to Alexander Isak. Gordon and Bruno maybe not getting back their sharpness in the opening games after late returns to pre-season.

However, every reason to think that a couple of weeks further on we can see more from that pair,, along with what is likely to be the long awaited next start in a league match for Sandro Tonali.

Not sure totally about his reasoning but in the end Harry Redknapp gets there, predicting a 2-1 win for Newcastle United against Wolves, a team who have won only one of thirteen Premier League matches these past six months.

Harry Redknapp speaking after Newcastle United’s opening three Premier League matches, as Eddie Howe’s side prepare to face Wolves in their fourth league game of the season, the former Spurs boss taking to BetVictor:

“This is a tough one to predict.

“I worry for Wolves this season; they seem to be a little out of sorts. They looked dangerous going forward against Chelsea a couple of weeks back but defensively, they have problems. Losing Max Kilman to West Ham was a real blow to this side.

“I’m not quite sure how they beat Spurs but talk about a massive win!

“I don’t think Newcastle have been anywhere near their best but that’s seven points from nine and an ideal start for them.

“Newcastle have been uncharacteristically shaky at the back but with the attacking quality they have, I still think they’ll edge this.

“One to watch – Alexander Isak has started this season in top form and found the net for his country during the break.

“He could well prove too much for what looks a vulnerable Wolves defence.

“Prediction: Wolves 1 Newcastle 2”
