I thought I would have a look at how Newcastle United have got on against Fulham at Craven Cottage down the years.
My mate who lives in London has got us tickets amongst the Fulham fans.
Needs to be done, as I don’t get the chance to get to loads of away matches due to my not numerous loyalty points.
Anyway, I thought I would have a look at the chances of us winning at Craven Cottage, based on what has gone on in past matches.
What I found was difficult to explain…
Newcastle United record against Fulham at Craven Cottage 2008-2024
Fulham 2 Newcastle 1 (2008/09)
Fulham 1 Newcastle 0 (2010/11)
Fulham 5 Newcastle 2 (2011/12)
Fulham 2 Newcastle 1 (2012/13)
Fulham 1 Newcastle 0 (2013/14)
Fulham 1 Newcastle 0 (2016/17 – Championship)
Fulham 0 Newcastle 4 (2018/19)
Fulham 0 Newcastle 2 (2020/21)
Fulham 1 Newcastle 4 (2022/23)
Fulham 0 Newcastle 2 (2023/24 – FA Cup)
Fulham 0 Newcastle 1 (2023/24)
Fulham v Newcastle United – Two very different sets of stats
2008-2017
Fulham Wins 6 Draws 0 Newcastle Wins 0 Fulham Goals Scored 12 Newcastle Goals Scored 4
2018-2024
Fulham Wins 0 Draws 0 Newcastle Wins 5 Fulham Goals Scored 1 Newcastle Goals Scored 13
So how do you explain that?
Fulham win six at home against us, scoring 12 goals and conceding only four.
Then that is followed by five Newcastle United wins in a row at Craven Cottage, with Fulham only managing the one goal and NUFC 12!
Surely to balance things off, Fulham have to do the decent thing and roll over, allowing Newcastle United to follow those six defeats with then six victories on the bounce at Craven Cottage.
It is strange though, how at times you find it impossible to win against certain teams for years, with other teams the opposite.
