Germany national team manager Jullian Nagelsmann is IN DISCUSSIONS with multiple clubs amid reports that he could replace Jurgen Klopp in the Liverpool hotseat.

Nagelsmann, 36, is contracted to the German football association (DFB) until the end of the forthcoming European Championship, with no breakthrough thus far in negotiations over a new deal.

It is widely expected that the former Bayern Munich manager will re-enter the club game this summer and there are no shortage of top clubs at which he could land.

Bayern intend to part ways with Thomas Tuchel at the end of the season, the man who replaced Tuchel last March and led FC Hollywood to the Bundesliga title in 2023.

The Bavarians have suffered an underwhelming season at domestic level, slumping behind Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen, and dropping their Bundesliga crown for the first time since 2012.

Meanwhile, Xavi will leave Barcelona despite pleas for him to remain in place, meaning three of Europe’s top clubs are on the lookout for new managers.

Nagelsmann future to be decided 'in days'

Nagelsmann has previously been linked with Liverpool although it now appears Sporting CP’s Ruben Amorim is the current frontrunner to take over from Klopp.

Nonetheless, in an intriguing development, Nagelsmann’s agent has confirmed that while talks have taken place over a sensational Bayern return, his client is also speaking to other parties about upcoming jobs.

It is expected that Nagelsmann’s new post will be confirmed in the next week or so and he will officially stand down upon the conclusion of Germany’s Euro 2024 campaign.

Volker Struth, speaking to Spielmacher- der EM-Podcast von 360Media mit Sebastian Hellmann, said: "Everyone is currently asking me the same question: Is Nagelsmann going back to Bayern or what is Nagelsmann doing? (...) This will be decided in the next few days. It will be decided shortly. In the next five-to-seven days."

"It would be complete nonsense to say that we are not talking to interested parties. Without me wanting to say who the interested parties are. I can only say, it's not just Bayern Munich. That's normal. That's my job, and it would be a bit of a joke towards the media to say we're not having conversations.

"Of course, we are having conversations now. It has also been announced by Julian himself that he will probably make a decision about his future in April."

Nagelsmann rebuilds reputation with Germany

After Nagelsmann was harshly sacked by Bayern, he replaced Hansi Flick in charge of the national team after a terrible World Cup performance under the Bayern Munich treble winner.

Nagelsmann has since reaffirmed Germany’s status as a top team, guiding them to a recent win over France, and getting the best out of new talents like Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz, two reported Liverpool transfer targets.

The Nationalmannschaft head into their home tournament among the favourites and Nagelsmann will be hoping to end on a high before taking up his new post.

It's been reported that Klopp could be a candidate to replace Nagelsmann for the DFB, but he is intending on taking a sabbatical after his spell at Liverpool ends.
