Real Betis star Germán Pezzella on Thursday provided a no-nonsense response to the dig aimed at the club by way of former Sevilla head coach Joaquín Caparrós.
Caparrós, for his part, turned heads across Andalusia earlier this week.
As much came owing to his comments in the buildup to the latest edition of El Gran Derbi.
Real Betis and Sevilla are primed to lock horns once more this coming weekend, in a highly-anticipated La Liga showdown at the Estadio Benito Villamarín.
With the former having of course enjoyed much the better of things across what has proven a season to forget for Sevilla to date, confidence is in turn said to be high in the Betis camp when it comes to their chances of a three-point haul on Sunday.
Drawn on such belief on the part of the Verdiblancos earlier this week, however, the aforementioned Joaquín Caparrós made use of the opportunity to take aim at Manuel Pellegrini’s side.
“Betis always say they are going to win the derby and then leave with their heads down,” the ex-Sevilla boss assured, as cited by Mundo Deportivo.
Speaking during a media appearance of his own on Thursday, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of Caparrós’ comments was put to the aforementioned Germán Pezzella.
The Real Betis stopper, however, was utterly dismissive in his response:
“I’m not interested in what that man says. I’m not interested.”
