For a financially-restricted Barcelona, this summer and pre-season has been mostly about the youngsters. As the club continues to work on their transfer operations that are still pending, including Dani Olmo’s potential arrival, Hansi Flick is more focused on ensuring sporting success.

To aid him in that objective, many of the best Barcelona youngsters have traveled with the first team to the United States of America for their pre-season tour. From among the many standout performers, however, 22-year-old Pau Victor continues to stand out.

Against Real Madrid, the young Spanish forward managed to score a brace and those two goals ensured victory for the Catalan giants. In both the goals, moreover, it was his positioning and attention to detail that ensured that those goals came his way.

Following the game, as highlighted by SPORT, Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick was more than impressed with his young attacker and dropped a key hint about his future as well with the first team:

“We’ll see what happens. Two games, three goals. Not bad at all. The door to the first team is always open.”

By suggesting this, it is clear that Flick does indeed see Pau Victor as a dependable backup option for Robert Lewandowski and could perhaps even use him alongside the Polish striker as he did against Los Blancos. As it stands, a lot of opportunities are still wide open for the Spanish forward.

Beyond just Victor, however, Flick also acknowledged the quality of his other youngsters: “We have players aged 16, 17, 18… it’s fantastic to have them here.”

With Real Madrid now defeated and conquered as well thanks to Victor’s brace, Barcelona have just one more test left in the United States. Up next for the Catalan giants is a clash against AC Milan, with both Barça and Pau Victor hoping to get another positive result against their Italian opponents.
