Chelsea will soon be looking ahead to the summer transfer window despite having such a good and busy January window.

A lot has been said about Chelsea’s big spending, but the squad rebuild will continue. It is likely that once the rebuild has finished then things will calm down and return to more of a one out, one in sustainable way of recruiting. Although who knows with these ambitious new owners!?

There will be a couple of areas on the pitch that they will look to recruit in again come the summer, and Fabrizio Romano believes a new number 9 will be on the agenda, writing in his exclusive CaughtOffside column the Daily Briefing.

Of course, Chelsea will not have Armando Broja back until at least the start of next season, and he may well take some time to get back to his best even when he returns to the field.

“I think it’s not surprising that Chelsea will explore market for new striker, Aubameyang will leave and they only have Broja,” Romano said.

“Nkunku is not a number 9, he’s probably going to play behind the striker. But it’s not too early to know for sure what decisions Chelsea will make on who’s going to be the right candidate.”
