Stuart Hodge believes that Adam Idah missed his chance to make a statement in pre-season – but reckons the striker is good enough to score goals in the Premier League.

How did Idah perform in pre-season?

With Teemu Pukki returning late following his exploits with Finland at the Euro's, and Josh Sargent not yet signed, Idah was given his chance to impress Daniel Farke ahead of the new season.

He responded by scoring four goals in Norwich's five friendlies, following up his goals against Kings Lynn and Huddersfield with a brace in the 5-0 victory over Gillingham.

But whilst the 20-year-old scored more than anyone else for the Canaries in pre-season, Hodge doesn't think that Idah took his chance.

What did Hodge say?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "In pre-season, he had a chance to lay down a marker. He had the chance to say to Teemu Pukki 'I can make that jersey mine' – and he didn't do enough to do that.

"He scored a couple of nice goals against Gillingham, but he didn't do enough. I do think he has it in him to be a Premier League striker, and I think he could score goals in the league this season, but I don't think he's going to score double figures."

Has Idah been given a chance this season?

Besides the 5-0 loss at Manchester City last month, Idah has featured in all of Norwich's competitive games in league and cup.

However, his minutes have been limited, with the youngster on the pitch for just 49 minutes in total, with his longest cameos being 13 minutes against Liverpool and Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup.

However, Norwich are back in Carabao Cup action tonight, and Idah will be hoping to make his first start of the season against Jurgen Klopp's men, especially with the cup far from a priority at present for Farke.
