According to HITC, the Canaries are holding out for £8 million in order to let the forward go after his return from a loan spell at Parkhead.

The striker enjoyed a successful six months with the Scottish giants, having signed for them on a temporary basis during the January transfer window.

Idah contributed eight goals and two assists from 15 appearances in the Premiership, and proved crucial to their title triumph over rivals Rangers (all stats from Fbref).

The 23-year-old’s successful spell at Celtic has led to speculation over a permanent move to Brendan Rodgers’ side this summer.

Celtic are currently in talks with Norwich over a potential deal for Idah, but the Glasgow outfit are reluctant to pay £8 million to complete a deal.

It is understood that their preference would be to find a compromise worth around £5 million.

Idah is reportedly keen to make the switch back to Celtic on a permanent basis, having struggled for game time at Carrow Road in recent seasons.

The Irishman has fallen down the pecking order at the Norfolk club, with Josh Sargent usurping him in the squad.

However, new manager Johannes Hoff Thorup is willing to take a closer look at the forward during pre-season following his arrival as David Wagner’s replacement.

Norwich are only considering a permanent sale of Idah this summer, with another loan move seen as unlikely, even with an option to buy clause inserted into the agreement.

This has complicated talks between the two clubs, with a wide gap in valuation casting doubt over whether a move will be completed this summer.

Rodgers has made clear that he would like to see Idah remain with Celtic for next season, as his goals were also crucial to the team completing another domestic double.

Adam Idah’s Norwich game time

Idah featured 28 times in the Championship last season prior to his move to Celtic, but only 12 of those appearances came as a start.

An injury to Sargent opened up a space in the starting lineup in the first half of the campaign, but his return to fitness meant game time would become limited again.

The forward made just 11 starts in the prior campaign, with another 14 appearances coming from the bench.

In five seasons in the Norwich first team, Idah has started 31 of his 99 league appearances.

New manager opens the door for Norwich opportunity for Idah

A move to Celtic is the most sensible option for Idah at this stage of his career.

He has become a fan favourite at the Scottish giants, they can offer him more consistent game time, and he will be able to compete in the Champions League as well.

However, if a deal doesn’t come to fruition then perhaps there is some upside to staying with Norwich.

If he can impress the new manager during pre-season, then there is a chance he can finally cement himself as a key part of the Canaries’ first team squad.
