Plymouth Argyle earned a fine three points at home to Ipswich Town yesterday afternoon, taking them top of the League One table.

After being behind thanks to Freddie Ladapo’s 39th minute strike, Argyle would go on to find not only an equaliser, but a winning goal in the last 20 or so minutes of the game.

Putting an extra twist on things, it would be a player from Ipswich’s bitter rivals – Norwich City – that would score the first goal of the game, with Canaries loanee Bali Mumba netting for Argyle in the 69th minute.

Speaking after the match, Mumba revealed he was ‘buzzing’ and happy it was him that got the equaliser.

“The lads were brilliant,” Muma told Plymouth club media.

“At 1-0 down we kept the faith, kept our belief, and kept going. We showed good character to get back into the game and to take all three points.

“We’ve shown in a few games that we can be down, but the character we have and the attitude means we were give it a good try.

“I thought the goal was coming. I’m happy that it was me that got the equaliser. I’m buzzing at the result.”

The three points for Plymouth Argyle takes the club top of League One at this early stage.

The Verdict

You just know that Bali Mumba enjoyed that one yesterday.

Given his Norwich ties, it will have been a sweet feeling to net such an important goal against Ipswich Town.

It was a very important strike for the Pilgrims, too, with Mumba’s goal essentially giving Argyle the platform to go on and eventually take all three points.

The 20-year-old now has two goals and five assists to his name in League One – a fine return from wing-back.
