Nunez has less than a year left on his current deal with the Canaries.

Marcelino Nunez is the subject of further transfer interest as Turkish club Trabzonspor reignite their pursuit of the Norwich City midfielder.

With less than a year left on his contract, Norwich are willing to let go of the Chilean for the right price, according to The Pink Un. The 25-year-old international has been at Carrow Road since the summer of 2022, when the Canaries paid Universidad Catolica £3.3 million to bring Nunez over to England.

He has made more than 100 first-team appearances for City across various competitions since he first arrived in Norfolk and has established himself as a strong, consistent contributor for Norwich.

Unsurprisingly, given his contract situation and his talents, a number of teams are interested in signing Nunez this summer, including Trabzonspor, who tried to buy him last summer.

Turkish club could come back in for Marcelino Nunez

The Super Lig outfit attempted to poach the Chilean away from Johannes Hoff Thorup's side for a reported fee of €3.5 million, but their bid was turned down. Now, according to Turkish outlet Fotomac, Nunez is being eyed once again by them.

Trabzonspor are also considering Roma's Lorenzo Pellegrini, as per the report, but the cost of the Italian and his injury history make the Norwich player the potentially more likely target for Fatih Tekke's team.

The Pink Un have also said that some Spanish clubs are among the team that are interested in signing the 25-year-old.

Thorup's successor, Liam Manning, is having to deal with many of the same issues that the Dane had in his first months in charge - a lot of teams want his players. Borja Sainz has already left Carrow Road to join Porto, and there has been major interest in Josh Sargent.

Manning, however, is actively looking to cut down on the size of his squad. "We're a little bit heavy numbers-wise," said the ex-Bristol City head coach, via The Pink Un, ahead of his first competitive match in charge of his hometown club. "The consequence of that will be players wanting minutes who potentially won't get them.

"So I think that's where there are conversations behind the scenes about being completely transparent and honest with people, being clear about where they are and what it looks like."

Norwich have the numbers to be able to let Marcelino Nunez leave

The permanent additions of Jacob Wright from Manchester City and Mirko Topic from Famalicao give Manning enough depth in his centre-mid options to be able to let Nunez go, should the right offer come in, and it not leave him on rations in this area of the pitch.

It would be a shame to see a talented player go, but the reality of football is that they should look to move him on this summer if they aren't looking to re-up his deal next summer, or if he has his sights set on a move away then.
