The Lionesses defeated North Macedonia 10-0 on Friday night and they now need a maximum of four points to qualify for next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup.

England’s record against Northern Ireland is emphatic

England have won their last four meetings with Northern Ireland. The Lionesses have scored 16 goals in those games and have recorded four consecutive clean sheets. England most recently won the reverse fixture 4-0 at Wembley back in October.

Northern Ireland could keep it tight

Two of Northern Ireland’s last four meetings with England have been goalless at half-time, this includes the last meeting in October. The Green and White Army have not conceded a goal in the first half in any of their last six matches. Austria were the last team to score a first half goal against Kenny Shiels’ side back in late October.

There will be goals

Northern Ireland have scored in each of their four home games in FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023 qualifying (19 goals in total) while England have scored in every away fixture (30 goals). Both sides have plenty of attacking quality in their ranks and it is difficult to see this game being very low scoring.

Mead again England’s primary threat?

Beth Mead was England’s greatest attacking threat against North Macedonia on Friday with the player scoring four goals and providing one assist. The forward now has 12 goals in qualifying and nine assists while she has scored more opening goals (three) than any of her teammates. Mead’s introduction from the bench against Northern Ireland at Wembley in October resulted in the player netting a hat-trick and she could be the danger once again.
