And just like that, another Champions League group stage has flown by.

Here’s who made our team of the group stage.

GK – Keylor Navas (PSG)

Paris Saint-Germain conceded just two goals throughout the group stage and Navas was a big part of that.

His shop stopping and reflexes are second to none, with his performance away to Real Madrid the standout.

RB – Achraf Hakimi (Borussia Dortmund)

Is he a right back? Is he a left winger? We have absolutely no idea. But what we do know is that Hakimi is brilliant.

He offered Dortmund a huge counterattacking threat, scoring four goals in six games, meaning he is their top scorer in the competition so far.

CB – Leonardo Bonucci (Juventus)

It’s been far from classic Juventus as they adapt to Sarriball but come rain or shine, Bonucci remains the same.

The Old Lady conceded just four goals in six games and Leo was a perfect example for Matthijs de Ligt to follow.

CB – Clément Lenglet (Barcelona)

Barcelona came through a difficult group without breaking sweat and Clément Lenglet deserves a mention.

He was a steady, consistent figure despite being partnered by three different defenders across the six games.

LB – Alphonso Davies (Bayern)

Not many envisaged Davies becoming a swashbuckling left-back but here we are in December and he looks a natural fit.

Bayern looked to him in a desperate time of need and he grabbed the opportunity with both hands.

CM – Dani Parejo (Valencia)

Horrendous penalty record aside, Parejo deserves credit for guiding Valencia to their first knockout round since 2013.

Few can match his effortless control on games, with his man of the match performance against Ajax proving he can lead by example.

CM – Thomas Partey (Atlético)

In a midfield stacked with quality options, it’s not easy to standout but that is exactly what Thomas Partey continues to do for Atlético.

He is currently averaging a monstrous 3.5 tackles and 2.3 interceptions per game, all while maintaining an 88% pass accuracy. Impressive.

RM – Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)

Hasn’t quite hit top form in the Premier League but Salah was central to everything for Liverpool in Europe.

Four goals, two assists and he deserves inclusion for that outrageous finish against RB Salzburg alone.

LM – Kylian Mbappé (PSG)

It’s almost frustrating how easy football looks for Mbappé, even when he was injured for three weeks.

His five goals and three assists made it 30 direct goal contributions in 30 Champions League appearances.

ST – Robert Lewandowski (Bayern)

He narrowly missed out on scoring in all six group games but Lewandowski gave us a finishing masterclass regardless.

Four goals in Belgrade, two in Piraeus and a ridiculous double against Tottenham proved his credentials as the best striker in the world.

ST – Erling Haaland (RB Salzburg)

RB Salzburg may have dropped into the Europa League but we couldn’t ignore what Haaland did.

Eight goals in six games, one hat-trick and the first teenager to score in five consecutive appearances – in his competition debut!
