A hectic schedule awaits as Tottenham Hotspur could end up playing as many as nine games in the month of December

According to Football.London,  Tottenham Hotspur will have to deal with a hectic schedule in the month of December that could see them play as many as nine times in all competitions.

December has always been a hectic period for most Premier League clubs with a number of different competitions adding their Premier League schedule. This period is especially tough for the bigger clubs who are also competing in European competitions. Nuno Espirito Santo and his squad seem to be getting back to their best form and have won their last two games. Their real test, however, will be the gruelling schedule that they will have to face in December.

The Spurs match vs Brentford could have been played a day before on Wednesday (December 1) if Amazon Prime Video hadn’t taken the decision to live stream the match on the next day i.e Thursday, December 2. The North London club seems to face a similar situation on 16th December when they play Leicester City at the King Power Stadium. The match against the Foxes too could have been shifted to Wednesday 15th December. However this time it was BT Sports who had other ideas.

Preponing both these matches would have meant that Spurs would have got an extra day’s rest ahead of their encounters on the following Sundays. The North Londoners could surely have used this extra time to recuperate ahead of a titanic clash against Liverpool on 19th December.

The broadcasters also play a huge part in televising the game to audiences across the globe and this could leave clubs and leagues at their mercy on quite a few occasions.

The gruelling demands of such a packed schedule could take a toll on any team and Nuno will have to show off his astuteness in man and squad management. With games coming thick and fast, the festive season could really take its toll on the squad as a whole. This could very well determine how the club will fare towards the business end of the season.

The schedule could be a boon to the players who are lower down in the club’s pecking order. Especially so if Nuno decides to use all the resources at his disposal. The run of games also presents an opportunity for numerous players to stake a claim in the club’s plans going forward.
