Chelsea will welcome Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night as they look to secure a positive result at home in the Premier League. The Blues suffered a disappointing 2-1 loss away at Wolverhampton Wanderers recently which has drained their confidence going into this midweek clash.

Mauricio Pochettino will once again opt for the 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to make some tweaks to his starting XI for this game. Christopher Nkunku will probably get the nod to lead the line for the West London giants in the final third.

Defence

Đorđe Petrović will function in between the sticks for the Blues after shipping in a couple of goals in his last league outing. Thiago Silva will resume his defensive partnership with Benoit Badiashile at the heart of Pochettino’s backline as they try to keep things tidy at the back during the game.

Malo Gusto will get a chance to impress as the right-back while Levi Colwill hopes to give a good account of himself on the other side as the left-back. Both of them will have to pick and choose their moments to join in on the attack.

Axel Disasi will offer cover for the defensive positions on the bench.

Midfield

Conor Gallagher will anchor the midfield along with Romeo Lavia as they look to put in a dominant performance for Chelsea at the centre of the park. The talented trio of Mykhailo Mudryk, Nicolas Jackson and Noni Madueke will play just ahead of them as part of Pochettino’s attack. All three of them need to link up well in the opponent’s half if they want to create enough chances for the Blues to win this home game.

Ian Maatsen will have to be content with a spot on the bench as he waits for his opportunity to impress in the second 45 minutes if required. However, both Raheem Sterling and Cole Palmer are suspended for this game.

Attack

Christopher Nkunku will spearhead Chelsea’s attack up top. He would be eager to threaten the Palace goal after his goal-scoring cameo against Wolves last weekend.

Armando Broja will be available for selection on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the final quarter.
