According to a report from SPORT, Nico Williams is crazy about the idea of joining Barcelona.

It is well-known that Nico has been Barcelona’s main top target to strengthen their left winger and his outstanding performance at the Euros has only reinforced the appeal of his potential signing

This is further aided by the good relationships he has formed with Barcelona players like Lamine Yamal and Pedri.

Barcelona understand that signing Nico won’t be easy, but they believe they have a crucial advantage: Nico himself is very eager to join the club. All the feedback Barcelona have received indicates that the player prioritises playing for them.

Foreign interest could hinder Barcelona’s pursuit

Recently, Chelsea have shown interest in signing Nico, but their efforts have hit a roadblock because the player prefers Barcelona. People involved in the negotiations have even advised Chelsea to be patient and avoid pressuring Nico, as it could backfire.

Chelsea’s strategy to sign Nico revolves around offering significant financial incentives and utilising their abundant resources.

They are prepared to offer him a salary between €15 and €20 million and have no issue paying his release clause, which is around €58 million.

Chelsea also believes they have an advantage due to Barcelona’s financial challenges. While Barcelona need to finalise other deals before making a solid offer, Chelsea have more flexibility to complete the transfer.

Barcelona are still confident

Despite Chelsea’s strong position, Barcelona remain confident. They believe Nico is willing to wait until they can clear the path for his signing.

It must be noted that the player has been cautious about his future, but he hasn’t ruled out a move. In recent interviews, he has stated that he is open to whatever happens and acknowledged that it’s good for Athletic Bilbao to have standout players.

Barcelona also benefit from the efforts of Nico’s national teammates, who are trying to persuade him to join their club. Recently, Yamal expressed his hope that Nico would come to Barcelona.

Right now, Nico is focused on playing in the European Championship with his national team and it is said that any decision regarding his future will only be made after the competition.
