The French Riviera derby is back once again as Monaco make the short trip to the Allianz Riviera to avenge their earlier loss against the Aiglons at the start of the season. We take a look back at some notable matches between the two Southern sides.

Monaco 0-1 Nice: Ligue 1, September 2023

Fransesco Farioli’s men were flying high at the start of the season and extended their unbeaten run with a last minute goal at Stade Louis II thanks to Jermie Boga. The match saw two Folarin Balogun penalties saved by a heroic Marcin Bulka before Ivorian international Boga clinched the win for Les Aiglons with a late strike.

Monaco 0-3 Nice: Ligue 1, February 2023

It was Les Aiglons who clinched victory once again on Monaco’s patch, ending ASM’s run of four straight victories. Terem Moffi began the scoring early on with his first goal in Nice colours, before following it up 15 minutes later with his second. Moffi then provided the assist for Khephren Thuram’s third goal.

Monaco 1-0 Nice: Ligue 1, April 2014

It wasn't a high scoring affair at Stade Louis II, but the game was lit up by a wonderful lobbed goal by Dimitar Berbatov in the fifth minute - it would be one of the Bulgarian international’s finest finishes in his career.

Nice 2-2 Monaco, September 2021

A high-scoring affair as Nico Kovac’s Monaco managed to grab a point off the high-flying Aiglons under Christophe Galtier. Aleksandr Golovin opened the scoring before Delort Equalised for the home side. Whilst Nice took the lead again through Hicham Boudaoui it would be Wissam Ben Yedder who scored a late penalty as both sides settled for a draw.

Les Monégasques were flirting with the lower reaches of the table when Patrick Vieira’s in-form Nice came to town, but a brace from Golovin and an 80th minute strike from Wissam Ben Yedder saw the Principality side earn the bragging rights.
