West Ham United boss David Moyes has opened up on his game plan for the trip to face Manchester City on the final day of the Premier League season.

Pep Guardiola and his players are one win away from making yet more history as a club, with three points against West Ham securing their status as the first and only side to win the Premier League title in four consecutive seasons.

Having their own destiny firmly in their own hands follows a largely faultless record in the Premier League since mid-December, with Manchester City holding a lengthy unbeaten record to overtake and rule out Liverpool as one title contender.

Arsenal remain the only other club holding a chance of winning the top-flight this season, but Mikel Arteta’s side would be forced to win against Everton on Sunday afternoon, and hope that West Ham can take points from the Etihad Stadium.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference ahead of the visit to Manchester City on Sunday afternoon, West Ham boss David Moyes has opened up on his plans for arguably the most high-profile contest of the season.

“Football is a strange game and we have to try and take our opportunities when we can,” Moyes stressed during his conversation with the media. “It’s always difficult against Manchester City, and they’re obviously fighting for the title.

“We have to do everything we can to play for ourselves and win the game. We can’t finish lower than ninth, and I think we’re all pleased with that situation.”

Continuing on his feelings ahead of the contest, Moyes continued, “I’m really relaxed about the game. We’ve prepared well, and we’re looking forward to it. We know we’re playing against a great team, and we’ll get as ready as we can to put on a good show.”

Arsenal fans will be hoping for a major favour from West Ham this weekend, however Moyes has insisted that the club’s connection to former captain and now Gunners midfielder Declan Rice will have no effect on their plans.

“Everyone here (at West Ham) loves Declan (Rice), but we’re playing for ourselves on Sunday, and I hope it works out,” Moyes admitted.

In the reverse fixture between West Ham and Manchester City back in mid-September, it was Guardiola’s side who came out on top, but not without an almighty challenge at the London Stadium following a first-half strike from James Ward-Prowse.

Jeremy Doku would prove to be the star of the show in the second-half, inspiring the visitors to an eventual 1-3 victory and scoring his first goal for Manchester City, complimented by efforts from Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland.
