Nice interested in former Chelsea manager Graham Potter | OneFootball

Nice-Matin are reporting that Dave Brailsford, INEOS’ Director of Sport, wants former Chelsea manager Graham Potter to replace Didier Digard at OGC Nice.

Digard replaced Lucien Favre as manager of Nice, and following a short interim spell, was handed the role until the end of the season thanks to a good run of results. However, Les Aiglons’ form has since dipped. The club are currently eighth in Ligue 1 and were knocked out of the UEFA Europa Conference League in the quarter-final stage by FC Basel.

Consequently, the hierarchy at Nice are looking at potential replacements for the upcoming season, although there is not yet unanimity on a single target. As reported by L’Équipe, Bologna manager Thiago Motta is a target. Jean-Claude Blanc, who only recently joined INEOS, is particularly keen on bringing the former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder to the Allianz Riviera. However, someone close to the deal has told Nice-Matin that Motta is waiting on the PSG role, currently occupied by Christophe Galtier, whose future is also uncertain.

Nice-Matin are reporting that Brailsford is wanting to hire a British manager and Jim Ratcliffe is willing to fulfil that desire. Brailsford has identified Potter, who has been out of work since leaving Chelsea, as a top target for the club this summer.

It is set to be a busy summer at Nice. Not only are Le Gym potentially in the market for a new manager, but Nice’s owners are also involved in a bid to purchase Premier League side Manchester United. The British press have identified INEOS’ bid as the favourite, a piece of information echoed in Nice-Matin, who described Nice’s owner’s bid as “well-placed.”
