Neymar guided Paris Saint-Germain to their second consecutive semi-finals on Tuesday with his man of the match performance in the 1-0 loss at home to Bayern Munich.

The French champions advanced to the next round on away goal, in a tie that finished 3-3 on aggregate, which served as a pay back to last season’s final that Bayern won 1-0 in Portugal last summer.

Though Bayern were without injured striker Robert Lewandowski for both legs, the German team still had the better play in the match, but with Neymar’s brilliance, PSG created the better chances and the Brazilian hit the post twice in the process.

However, the Germans took the lead in the 40th minute in a scrappy fashion when Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting jumped to head home a rebound after Keylor Navas’ had to make a difficult save that deflected high in the six-yard box.

Neymar came very close again in the 54th minute when Angel Di Maria rolled the ball to the path of the Brazilian, But the PSG No. 10 couldn’t get his shot on target.

PSG talisman and first leg hero Kylian Mbappe scored from a counterattack in the 79th minute, but the goal was rightly flagged for offside.

Bayern Munich on the other hand, pushed hard for a tie-winning goal, but with the absence of Lewandowski, it looked very difficult, even after flooding PSG’s half with attacks.

The home side held on and finished the game 3-3 on aggregate, meaning they will face Manchester City in the semi-finals after the Premier League leaders beat Borussia 4-2 on aggregate on Wednesday night.
