It has been almost six and a half years since Neymar left Barcelona, in favour of a big-money move to Paris Saint-Germain.

While the Brazilian has continued to divide fans worldwide, he still retains a place in the hearts of the Barcelona fans.

Currently plying his trade for Al Hilal, Neymar’s chapter at Barcelona is well and truly over. However, it appears Barcelona has a special place in Neymar’s heart as well.

Neymar expresses his love for Barcelona

In a recent interaction, Neymar has admitted that he missed Barcelona. He reflected on his time in Paris, suggesting that he had to go through ‘hell’ in France.

“Lionel Messi and I went through hell in Paris. We missed Barcelona a lot,” Neymar said (h/t Instant Foot).

Neymar spent a total of six years in PSG, featuring in 173 competitive matches. However, having struggled with a series of injuries, the forward was not among the fan favourites.

During the final phase of his career at PSG, Neymar, along with Lionel Messi was loathed by a significant section of the PSG fans.

Neymar’s spell in Saudi so far

Neymar joined Al-Hilal in the summer. He joined the Saudi Arabian club for a fee of €90 million.

Six months into his spell at Al-Hilal, Neymar has featured in only five matches. His time in Saudi Arabia has also been marred with injuries.

The Brazilian is currently a cruciate ligament tear and is unlikely to return to action until April.

Neymar was closely linked with a potential return to Barcelona in the summer. But the club were not interested in re-signing the Brazilian, nor they were in a position to afford the player.
