FC Barcelona continue to put as much faith as possible in their aspiring youngsters. These same academy graduates and young talents are the reason that the club is surviving even today. However, beyond just betting on them from a sporting perspective, Barcelona also has to show them their support through various contracts.

The latest talent to be added to a list of promising renewals is 16-year-old Guille Fernandez. A talented and well-equipped young midfielder, he is the cousin of another Barça youngster, Toni Fernandez, who was also renewed not too long ago.

For three more seasons at the club, Guille Fernandez will remain a Barcelona player. However, it is worth noting that despite Barça’s success in retaining his services, the Catalan club was not the only suitor that wanted the young midfielder all to themselves.

According to SPORT, the likes of German giants Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and Premier League champions Manchester City were all quite invested in the 16-year-old La Masia midfielder. Unfortunately for them, that interest was not a mutual one.

After Jorge Mendes became the player’s representative a few months ago, he was swiftly contacted by the three clubs mentioned. They were hoping to take away the young Barcelona midfielder but it turns out that the youngster’s entourage fully respected the player’s wishes and did not even bother to negotiate.

His aspirations were clear about remaining at Barcelona, and that is the message his entourage conveyed. Now, not too long since then, the player has been renewed at the club of his dreams and he will continue to fight for the badge for at least three more seasons.

Moreover, at the moment, he is participating in pre-season preparations with Hansi Flick. Currently training with the Barcelona first team, Guille Fernandez would not be the first player to take advantage of such an opportunity and potentially even convince the first team coach to bet on him. Fermin Lopez did it before with Xavi Hernandez, and Guille may have his chance with Flick as well.
