Newcastle United are interested in West Ham United forward Jarrod Bowen ahead of the summer transfer window, reports talkSPORT.
The Magpies wanted to sign the former Hull City star before he moved to the London Stadium club.
However, they could not match the £18 million the Hammers parted with for his services.
West Ham could end up being relegated following a woeful campaign, and Newcastle are keeping tabs on Bowen.
David Moyes’ side are 15th in the Premier League after 28 games.
However, only a superior goal difference keeps them above the relegation places.
By contrast, Newcastle are third with ten games left and could be playing in the Champions League next season.
Failure to survive the drop would see the Hammers lose Bowen and co.
However, they will be reluctant to sell the 26-year-old if they stay up.
They are already set to lose Declan Rice whatever happens, and losing Bowen will further deplete their ranks.
Having spent over three years at the club, the English attacker could be open to leaving.
He has been unable to permanently break into the England national team and could do with a change in environment.
A move to Newcastle could boost his Three Lions’ chances ahead of next year’s European Championship given how impressive Eddie Howe’s side has been.
The Magpies manager is a long-term admirer of the Hammers star and could be willing to splash the cash on him.
Bowen has 25 goals and 22 assists in 115 Premier League games for West Ham.
He could be an inspired addition to a Newcastle attack in need of quality depth in preparation for European football.
