West Ham United striker Niclas Fullkrug had a season to forget in his debut campaign in the Premier League, and it appears he is open to leaving this summer.
Injuries limited the 32-year-old to 20 appearances across all competitions for the Hammers this season, with three goals to his name.
West Ham manager Graham Potter is expected to sign another striker despite the impending arrival of Daniel Cummings from Celtic, and Fullkrug has suggested he prefers living away from London.
“I’m not really the big city type,” the former Borussia Dortmund striker told Sky Sports.
“The first few months were challenging. You can do some really great things in London – even as a family. But I’ve always lived in the countryside.
“That’s where I want to live. I don’t necessarily belong in the city. I need to see trees and nature around me.”
West Ham spent £27 million to recruit the German, and their former technical director Tim Steidten admitted that buying him was a mistake.
He was handed a £90,000-per-week deal but struggled with his fitness for large parts of the campaign, and selling him could be beneficial to both parties.
Juventus were linked with him during the winter transfer window, and Galatasaray also reportedly indicated interest a couple of months ago.
Fullkrug will not be short of suitors across Europe despite his disappointing campaign with the Hammers, and his recent comments will have alerted some clubs ahead of the summer transfer window.
West Ham will not hesitate to sell him if he indicates he wants out, and Potter will be looking to bring in an upgrade on him to boost their chances of European qualification.
