An official NUFC announcement on Wednesday morning regarding Becky Langley and the Newcastle United Women’s team.

Ahead of the new season, the club awarding Becky Langley a new long-term contract.

This follow consecutive promotions these past two seasons.

The club continuing to put resources into the Newcastle United Women’s team that couldn’t be more different to what happened under Mike Ashley.

A lot of players signed this summer and the Newcastle United Women now aiming at promotion to the Super League, the top tier of women’s football in England.

Newcastle United Women head coach Becky Langley has signed a new long-term contract ahead of the 2024-25 Barclays Women’s Championship season.

Becky has guided the Magpies to back-to-back promotions in the last two seasons, winning the FA Women’s National League Division One North and Northern Premier Division titles.

Newcastle United Women get their first ever Barclays Women’s Championship campaign under way at London City Lionesses at 2pm BST on Sunday, before a first home match of the season at home to Sheffield United Women at Kingston Park on Sunday 22nd September.

Since joining the club in 2019, Becky has also led the team through its first ever matches at St. James’ Park, drawing record crowds, and she played a key role as Newcastle United Women became a full-time professional side in 2023.

Becky Langley said: “I am delighted to sign a new contract and to keep pursuing my goals at Newcastle United Football Club.

“After speaking with Paul Mitchell (Sporting Director, NUFC) and Su Cumming (Head of Women’s Football, NUFC) about the ambitions for the team and club, it just made my enthusiasm even greater for this exciting project.

“I will give everything to achieve our aims together and I am unapologetically ambitious for Newcastle United Women. Here’s to an exciting future.”

Newcastle United sporting director, Paul Mitchell, said: “Becky’s new contract is fully deserved. I’ve been in constant contact with her since arriving at the club in the summer and I’ve been hugely impressed.

“It’s clear to see Becky’s talent and the potential she has in her coaching career. I’m looking forward to working together and supporting Becky, the players and staff as we build towards our ambitious objectives.”

Newcastle United CEO, Darren Eales said: “A huge congratulations to Becky. We have been delighted by the progress and success that has been achieved by Newcastle United Women, and Becky has done a fantastic job in leading the team.
