Newcastle United are not expecting Sandro Tonali’s ban to be extended beyond the current suspension despite fresh FA charges over betting rule breaches, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The midfielder was banned for ten months in October last year by the Italian football federation for placing bets.

Tonali will not be able to return to action until August in regards to the ban he is currently serving and will not take part in the European Championship this summer.

The FA charged Tonali again today for placing 50 bets between August and October last year when he was already a Newcastle player.

There are fears amongst the Newcastle fanbase that their star signing from last summer could now face an even longer ban.

However, it has been claimed that Newcastle are not expecting Tonali to be banned beyond August.

The midfielder admitted his transgressions and submitted the relevant info to the FA in the autumn of last year.
