In a recent report, The Sun mentioned that Newcastle United are facing stiff competition for Fiorentina forward Dusan Vlahovic. It is understood that the Magpies will have to rival Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal in the race to sign the Serbian striker.

Vlahovic’s Impressive Numbers At The Stadio Artemio Franchi

The Belgrad-born talent has made a promising start to this campaign after putting in a few promising performances as the spearhead of Vincenzo Italiano’s attack. Vlahovic has banged in six goals and grabbed one assist in eight matches for the Florence outfit last season in all competitions.

The 21-year-old has been a valuable contributor for Fiorentina in the final third as he is averaging 2.4 shots, 1.0 key passes and 0.7 dribbles per game in Serie A. However, he needs to be more accurate with his ball distribution based on his pass success rate of 71.6% in league football (stats via whoscored).

Is Vlahovic A Good Fit For The Magpies?

Vlahovic is proficient at generating a yard of space for himself to get a few shots in on-target and can use his robust 1.90m to hold possession up for his team in the attacking third of the pitch. He has added plenty of goals to his game and can even create some encouraging opportunities for his teammates to find the back of the net.

At 21, the Serbian attacker is expected to get better with each season, so he will be an excellent fit for the Tyneside outfit as long as they are willing to be patient with his progress at St. James’ Park. Vlahovic is already good enough to rival Callum Wilson and Allan Saint-Maximin at the Tyneside club. We can expect him to inject some goals and physicality to Newcastle‘s frontline and even help them fight for a top-six place in the Premier League over the next few seasons.

Furthermore, the Serbian frontman will serve as an upgrade over Dwight Gayle and Joelinton as they have both been inconsistent with their offensive contributions for the Tyenside giants over the past 18 months. Thus, the Magpies should consider orchestrating a move to win the fight to acquire his services next year.
