In a recent report, Tutto Juve stated that Newcastle United are locked in a three-way battle for Villarreal starlet Filip Jorgensen. It is understood that the Magpies would have to compete with Wolverhampton Wanderers and Juventus in the race to land the Danish keeper.

Jorgensen’s Recent Form In La Liga

Jorgensen has played a lot of football for Villarreal this season but has struggled to be consistent for them in La Liga. The 21-year-old has made 30 appearances for the Yellow Submarine this season, conceding 53 goals and keeping only four clean sheets in multiple competitions.

The Danish talent deserves some credit for averaging 0.8 clearances and 5.0 long balls per game in La Liga. He has even distributed the ball relatively well based on his pass success rate of 76% in the Spanish top tier (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the Spanish club will run out in the summer of 2027. Therefore, the Magpies would have to make a convincing offer if they are serious about recruiting Jorgensen later this year.

Newcastle United Are Locked In A Three-Way Battle For Jorgensen: Is He A Prospect For The Future?

Jorgensen has got decent reflexes that help him make a few crucial stops at the back. He is a solid handler of the ball and can distribute the ball well from inside his half. Standing at 1.90m, the Danish keeper can be a towering presence inside his penalty box. However, he has to find a way to be more consistent in top-flight football if he wants to earn more playing time over the next few years.

Jorgensen would no doubt enhance the quality of Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe’s goalkeeping department. He has got what it takes to serve as an ideal, second-choice keeper at the Tyneside club in the coming seasons.

At 21, Jorgensen has got the potential to be a future star in European football. Thus, it makes sense for the Magpies to move in for him in the upcoming transfer period. However, there are some concerns over whether Jorgensen can adapt to the physical side and high intensity of Premier League football. Still, the pros outweigh the cons of recruiting the Danish talent as he is undeniably a prospect to watch out for in the future.
