In a recent report, TuttoJuve stated that Newcastle United are facing stiff competition for Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot. It has been claimed that the Magpies will have to rival Arsenal, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid in the race to sign the France international.

Rabiot’s Impressive Run Of Form In Italian Football

Rabiot is experiencing a solid campaign at the Turin-based club as he has put in a handful of decent displays for them at the centre of the park. The French talent has participated in 24 matches for Juve this season, netting four goals and securing three assists in multiple competitions.

The 28-year-old has been a consistent performer in both halves based on his average of 1.8 tackles, 0.8 interceptions, 0.9 clearances, 1.3 shots, 0.9 key passes and 1.0 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball from midfield after completing 84.6% of his attempted passes in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).

Rabiot is under contract at the Italian club until the end of this campaign. Hence, Newcastle could potentially sign him on a free transfer later this year.

Is Rabiot A Good Fit For Newcastle United?

Rabiot is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed and can strike the ball with power and precision from long range.

The France international has got the vision to create some promising chances for others around him in the opposition half and is a powerful runner with the ball. At the moment, Rabiot is playing some of his best football at Juventus. He is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also serve as a defensive midfielder or as a left-sided wide player if told to do so.

Rabiot will add more quality to Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe’s midfield department. He has what it takes to challenge for a regular starting spot at St. James’ Park as long as he can make a smooth transition to life in England.

At 28, Rabiot is playing in his prime and could help the Magpies compete across all fronts in the coming years.  Thus, he would be a good fit for Newcastle‘s needs at the moment.
