According to Tuttosport newspaper, Juventus and Monza directors met in Milan on Wednesday to discuss a deal for Michele Di Gregorio, who snubbed a move to Newcastle in the January transfer window.
Juventus director Cristiano Giuntoli met his Monza counterpart Adriano Galliani on Wednesday to discuss the Brianzoli keeper Di Gregorio, Thursday’s printed edition of Tuttosport newspaper reports on page six.
Di Gregorio, 26, is one of the most exciting Italian goalkeepers and has also been monitored by Milan and Inter.
According to Tuttosport, Newcastle offered €20m in the January transfer window, but the Italy international rejected a move to St. James’ Park.
The Turin-based paper reports Di Gregorio is available for a similar fee in the summer, so Juventus have opened preliminary talks with his club Monza.
The Old Lady’s plan is to get the 26-year-old and sell Mattia Perin, but Di Gregorio will become a first-choice keeper in the long run, especially if Wojciech Szczesny refuses to extend his contract beyond 2025.
The Poland international is reportedly unwilling to lower his salary, so he could leave in the summer or at the end of his contract next year.
