The Athletic reports that Newcastle have made their first offer for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Seško as they go head-to-head for the Slovenian’s signing with Manchester United.
The first offer from Newcastle is said to be worth €80m and is around the asking price that Leipzig has set for Seško. Man United have not yet made an offer for the 22-year-old, but remain interested.
Seško himself has yet to decide which club he prefers to move to.
Newcastle are looking for a striker as the future of Alexander Isak is in the air as he looks to force a move to Liverpool. Newcastle tried to sign former Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitiké earlier this window, even submitting a bid for the 23-year-old. Not only was the bid rejected, but the Frenchman opted to move to Liverpool as well.
Seško is not the only Leipzig player to leave the club this summer, Xavi Simons continuing to push for a move away from the Red Bull Arena. Chelsea are currently the front-runners for the 22-year-old’s signature.
