Newcastle manager Eddie Howe is hoping to secure Atletico Madrid right back Kieran Trippier.
The Magpies are targeting several big-money signings in January, as they attempt to save themselves from relegation.
According to the Mirror, new Magpies coach Howe is hopeful of securing Trippier, as the England international wants to come home and live closer to his family.
A move to Manchester United was touted in the summer, but the Red Devils would not match Atletico's asking price.
Newcastle may even be willing to pay Trippier's buyout clause to secure his signature with minimal fuss.
