Newcastle United manager Eddi Howe has stated that he doesn’t know what the future holds for Bruno Guimarães (26), who looks set to be the subject of significant interest in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Brazil international is having another accomplished season on Tyneside and continues to be a go-to man in midfield for Newcastle. However, could his future lie elsewhere? “My intention would be to keep Bruno here for as long as we possibly can,” began Howe in a press conference on Friday.

He added, “But I can never make any guarantees as that would be foolish. Who knows what the future holds, but we do our best. Players like Bruno are very, very rare.” With Newcastle set to miss out on UEFA Champions League football for next season, other clubs may sniff an opportunity.

As reported by Sports Zone, Paris Saint-Germain – and Luís Enrique in particular – are big fans of Guimarães. PSG will be looking to strengthen their midfield once again this summer and they could be tempted into making a move for the Brazilian, who has a £100m release clause.

Within this context, one of the player’s agents, Alexis Malavolta, was at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday as PSG took on Stade Rennais in the Coupe de France. Is this an indication of his client’s next destination?
