Newcastle have completed the signing of striker Alexander Isak for what is reported to be a club record fee.
The 22-year-old has moved to St.James’ Park in a deal worth €70m including add-ons from LaLiga side Real Sociedad.
Isak has signed a six-year contract to become the most expensive player in the Magpies’ history, eclipsing the €44m paid for Joelinton in 2019.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Isak said: “I’m delighted to have it done. It was a big, big decision for me but it is a decision I am really happy with.
“It is a great, historical club that I think anyone would like to play for, with amazing fans.
“They were a big part of why I came here – and also the club’s project, which is one that I really believe in.”
The Swedish international had moved to Sociedad from Borussia Dortmund for €15m in 2019 and went on to score 44 goals in his 132 appearances for the club.
His form at domestic level has see him break into the Sweden starting line-up, with Isak having earned 37 caps to date and finding the net nine times.
He follows Sven Botman, Matt Targett and Nick Pope through the door this summer.
