He began his career with Barca, where he played as a striker. Indeed, he won the Silver Ball at the U17 World Cup with Spain as the second best player of the 2017 tournament.

Gomez left Barca in 2018 with a place in the B team no guarantee and instead signed for Borussia Dortmund.

He told Sport just last month: "I don't regret leaving Barça. At Borussia things didn't go well but I'm grateful to them because they made me a professional player.

"There I improved other aspects of myself and I'm very happy with the decision I made despite not having the minutes I was looking for."
