Ipswich Town have finalised the signing of striker Chuba Akpom on loan for the 2025/26 season.
The 29-year-old returns to English football having initially come through the academy at Arsenal before later going on to have a successful stint at Middlesbrough where he scored 29 goals in 42 games during the 2022/23 campaign.
Akpom's time at Boro earned him a move to Ajax in the summer of 2023, where he has played 68 times and scored 23 times for the Eredivisie team before joining Lille on loan for the second half of last season.
Now Akpom has gone on loan again, this time to Championship side Ipswich Town.
Speaking on his arrival at the club Akpom told the club's in-house media: "I was really excited when I heard of the interest and I’m delighted to have joined a club with such big ambitions.
"I watch a lot of football and have always thought Ipswich would suit my style, so this move makes perfect sense.
"I have had lots of good experiences over the last few years, at Ajax and playing in the Champions League with Lille, and I feel like all of these have improved me as a player and helped me be the person I am now.
"I’m here to do as much as I can do to help the team, in the changing room and on the pitch, and I’ll bring a winning mentality here."
Akpom's arrival didn't come in time for Ipswich's opening 1-1 draw with Birmingham City in the league but he could debut in the League Cup on Tuesday evening away to League Two side Bromley.
