New Girona midfielder bids farewell to Manchester United | OneFootball

Donny van de Beek is set to complete his switch from Manchester United to Girona later today. An agreement has been reached between the two clubs over a permanent move.

The deal includes a €500k fixed fee in additional to several add-ons, which will increase the total value of the deal. Some of these add-ons are easier than others and this will likely take the fee to around €5m.

However, the English club demanded further add-ons to be included, which could take the deal up to €15m in the future. The 27-year-old will put pen to paper on a deal that commits him to the La Liga club until June 2028, ending his miserable time at the Red Devils.

United also have a sell-on clause, which could again see them receive additional funds in the future, as they look to recoup some of the €46m they paid nearly four years ago. Van de Beek took to social media to confirm his exit and thank the United fans for their support during his difficult spell at the club.

He said: “Dear Manchester United family. Today is a memorable day as my adventure at the club comes to an end. I want to thank you all for your support throughout the years.

“From the moment we arrived at Manchester United, we felt extremely welcome and we are grateful for that. Thank you to everyone at the club for making us feel at home. A special thanks to all the fans that made these years unforgettable.

“Besides the football, the birth of our two children here ensures that Manchester will always have a special place in our hearts. Good luck to everybody, we’ll meet again.”
