Luis Boa Morte has revealed that the passion of fan and the opportunity to learn under Marco Silva were the main reasons behind his decision to join Everton.
Boa Morte was confirmed as the Toffees new assistant manager over the weekend after former number two, Joao Pedro Sousa, left to become coach of Famalicao in Portugal.
The ex-Arsenal and Fulham winger has previously been working at Sporting but has answered the Merseyside club’s call and will be in the dugout from next season.
Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, the 41-year-old explained exactly why he couldn’t say no to Everton and what supporters can expect going into the new campaign.
“I played against Everton so many times and you have to understand how ambitious the supporters are – how much they live for the club,” he said.
“It was not hard for me to say ‘yes’ when I had the chance to come here. The supporters are so passionate about the club and want their team to play a good style of football.
“Goodison Park was such a tough ground to come and play.
“You find difficult grounds to go to down the years, and I always said, ‘Okay, this is really, really tough, to play at Everton’. Last season they did well and teams found it hard to come to Goodison Park … and now we need to carry on the good work.”
