According to L’Équipe, MLS side New England Revolution have submitted a $1.6m bid to sign Girondins de Bordeaux striker Alberth Elis (27).
Honduran international Elis has five goals in 13 Ligue 2 games this season and represents one of the more bankable assets in a club in need of income. Les Girondins are not opposed to selling the striker this winter, however, they have set their price at €3.5m.
New England Revolution have submitted a bid of $1.6m, the equivalent of a little under €1.5m, a figure significantly below the Ligue 2 side’s valuation. However, due to the club’s need for liquidity, Bordeaux’s asking price could decrease.
Elis, who is under contract with Bordeaux until 2026, is still highly regarded in the MLS, having played for Dynamo Houston between 2017 and 2020. He is also garnering interest from LA Galaxy, as well as from Mexican clubs, according to a report from L’Équipe.
