The Nations League returns this evening with a number of interesting clashes across Europe.
Here’s what went on.
Scorers: Morata 25′; Horta 82′
Despite a dominant performance from Spain, Portugal snatched a point thanks to Ricardo Horta’s late goal.
Portugal headed to Sevilla looking to get their Nations League campaign off to a flyer but they did so with Cristiano Ronaldo on the bench.
It was though, La Roja who looked brighter in the opening exchanges with Gavi’s deflected effort going out for a corner.
And they would take the lead on 25 minutes as Alvaro Morata was laid in by Paolo Sarabia and finished from close range.
Portugal almost equalised immediately however as Andre Silva turned well inside the area but his effort was pulled just wide of the left-hand post.
After the break it was Luis Enrique’s side once again who were on top for the majority as Gavi was giving a masterclass in midfield.
But the visitors managed to get their equaliser with just eight minutes to go as Ricardo Horta, making only his second ever appearance for Portugal, struck home.
Scorers: Kuchta 11′ Sow (OG) 58′; Okafor 44′
Czech Republic got off to the perfect start in their first Nations League clash as they beat Switzerland 2-1.
Czech Republic hosted Switzerland in their League A Group 2 opener with West Ham stalwart Tomas Soucek playing the enforcer role in midfield.
And it was the home side who got off to the perfect start as Jan Kuchta netted after only 11 minutes.
The Swiss would get back into the game though, right on the stroke of half time as Noah Okafor finished well.
Into the second half and it was the Czechs who got their noses back in front as Djibril Sow scored an own goal just before the hour mark.
