Charlton Athletic sign Northern Ireland international full-back Mason | OneFootball

Charlton Athletic have completed the signing of Northern Ireland international full-back Ellie Mason on a free transfer.

The Addicks announced the news via a post on their official club website earlier today.

The 29-year-old defender joins Charlton Athletic after leaving former club Birmingham City earlier this summer. Mason spent two seasons with Blues, helping the Midlands club to push hard for promotion to the Barclays Women’s Super League.

Mason has also turned out for Watford, Millwall Lionesses, Yeovil Town, London City Lionesses and Lewes in her career to date.

On the international stage, Mason has been capped by Northern Ireland on 13 occasions. She was handed her first call-up for The Green and White Army in 2022.

Despite primarily being a full-back, Mason has operated in various positions in her career to date. She has shown that she is comfortable in a range of defensive roles and has also featured in central midfield. Mason was even trialed in attack during her time at former club Lewes and she found the back of the net on several occasions. The player will offer plenty of versatility to Charlton Athletic head coach Karen Hills during her time with the club.

Mason is Charlton Athletic’s third signing of the summer transfer window.
