What is it about Italians and penalties these days?

Jorginho channeled his inner Simone Zaza on Sunday during Napoli’s Serie A match against Udinese.

Except unlike Zaza, the Napoli midfielder actually ended up scoring. Just about.

Napoli were handed a penalty when Christian Maggio was adjudged to have been fouled in the box and Jorginho stepped up to take it.

He performed something between a hopscotch hop and an equestrian jump and unsurprisingly hit a very tame penalty right at Simone Scuffet, the Udinese goalkeeper.

Scuffet himself seemed unprepared for just how bad the penalty was and he could only fumble the ball right back towards Jorginho.

The Italy midfielder must have been thanking his lucky stars as he only had to tap the ball into a virtually empty net to spare his blushes.

If we were Maurizio Sarri, however, we’d probably think about moving Jorginho off of penalty duty anyway.
