Napoli prepare for Rafa Marin medical after Real Madrid deal | OneFootball

Marca are reporting that Napoli have concluded a €12m deal with Real Madrid for defender Rafa Marin, who spent last season at Alaves, with buy-back options.

He just turned 22 in May and is a product of the Real Madrid youth academy, but never actually played for the club at senior level.

Nonetheless, his performances on loan with Alaves proved enough to inspire Antonio Conte into pushing for the transfer to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Sky Sport Italia had said a few weeks ago that it would be worth €10m, but Spanish newspaper Marca now claim it is closer to €12m.

Complex Rafa Marin clauses

As confirmed by the Italian sources, Real Madrid can also retain the buy-back clauses that change depending on when they are activated.

If they try to reunite with Rafa Marin in 2026, then it will be at a cost of €25m, rising to €35m in the summer of 2027.

Napoli also have the option to pay €10m in his first season and effectively double those buy-back clauses as a result to €50m and €70m.

A medical is organised over the next few days, as Napoli begin pre-season training on July 9.
