Napoli bid farewell to Giacomo Raspadori, who headed to Atletico Madrid, and are contemplating bringing back Elijf Elmas, who returned to RB Leipzig following a productive six-month spell at Torino.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the Partenopei pocketed €22M, plus €4M add-ons, for the Italian attacker. His departure, combined with the missed acquisition of Dan Ndoye, will most likely lead to the purchase of another offensive weapon.
Elmas would be keen on reuniting with Napoli. Torino elected not to pick up a €17M option to acquire him from RB Leipzig in June. He scored four goals from January on last season. The Granata have been trying to bring him back, but they haven’t been able to shake hands. Roma have also displayed preliminary interest, as they need one man in the role.
The North Macedonia star previously spent four years in Campania, totaling 19 goals and 11 assists in 189 appearances and contributing to Luciano Spalletti’s Scudetto. Instead, Raspadori played a part in two titles, scoring 18 times and dishing out 10 helpers in 10 matches with the Azzurri.
If they really wanted him, the negotiation probably wouldn’t take long. He’s not at the same level physically, but he’s more similar in terms of characteristics and position to Scott McTominay than other midfielders they have been linked to, like Fabio Miretti. Plus, he would be an elite super-sub, which was the Italian striker’s main role last season. The latter transferred to a very nice destination, but it would have been interesting to see what heights he could have reached in a team where he wouldn’t have to share the spotlight with numerous other forwards.
