Atletico Madrid have tabled an offer worth €25 million plus €5 million to Napoli for the signing of Giacomo Raspadori, as per Sky Sport Italia.
The La Liga giants are looking to continue their impressive spending spree and have identified Raspadori as a top target to add depth to their attack.
Having agreed personal terms with the Italian forward, Atletico are optimistic about reaching an agreement with Napoli over the transfer fee.
Raspadori is keen on reviving his career elsewhere as his game time could be reduced following the arrivals of Lorenzo Lucca and Noa Lang.
Selling the former Sassuolo star will also help Napoli generate funds for their transfer targets such as Yunus Musah, Fabio Miretti and Jack Grealish.
Despite having stacked attacking options, Atletico manager Diego Simeone highly regards Raspadori’s potential.
The 25-year-old netted six goals and one assist last season as Napoli clinched the Serie A title under manager Antonio Conte.
The Italian international can play as a No.9 and a second striker. He needs regular game time to sustain his place in Gennaro Gattuso’s squad ahead of next year’s FIFA World Cup.
Meanwhile, Raspadori’s signing could push Alexander Sorloth towards the exit.
Atletico are open to listening to the offers for the Norwegian international despite his impressive debut season last term.
The 29-year-old finished as La Liga’s fourth top scorer with 20 goals and helped Atletico secure Champions League qualification.
Raspadori will link up with his Italian teammate Matteo Ruggeri at Atletico, who has been signed from Atlanta in this transfer window.
They have also secured the transfers of Thiago Almada, Alex Baena, Clement Lenglet and Johnny Cardoso.
